Mala Učka, historically focused on cattle farming, has always been known for its excellent cheeses. Half a century after World War Two, after the area was destroyed by war, the family Maliki revived cattle farming and cheese making business.
You can see their 600 sheep in open pastures in Učka during warm seasons. In winter, the sheep stay in Istria, close to Vodnjan. Aside from their renowned quark and cheeses, which can be found on the menus of many renowned restaurants, they also make their organic products using local herbs such as Thymus and Wood Garlic. While their products can be found in grocery stores, it is always best to taste them at the place of their origin. That is, in the mountain ambient of a small cheese making factory in Mala Učka.
They are open every weekend between the 1st of May and the 1st of September.
